Moffat Beach Family Home: A Full-House Planting & Weekly Care Plan
Full-house greenery for a busy Moffat Beach family.
Some clients know exactly which plant they want and where. Others just know they love having plants around. They want the lush, layered, coastal-jungle feel in their home, but don't have the time, knowledge, or headspace to work out what goes where, or to keep it all alive once it's in.
This Moffat Beach family home was the second kind of project: a beautiful house with the light and space to hold serious greenery, and a busy family who wanted the benefit without the guesswork. My brief was simple; match every plant and pot to the conditions of its space, style it properly, then take care of it every week so they never have to think about it.

The Brief
A full-house planting plan across every major living space, with every plant and pot chosen specifically for the light, humidity and function of that room — not just what looked good, but what would actually thrive there. Paired with a weekly maintenance visit, so the greenery stays healthy without any effort required from the family.
Room by Room
The Main Living Space — North-Facing & Bright
This room gets the best light in the house, so it became home to the largest feature plants — the kind that need real sun to thrive and reward you with serious presence in return. Lush, deep-green, and full canopy plants were chosen here to anchor the space, styled in oversized pots that hold their own in a room with this much natural light and volume.
The Bathrooms — Low Light Lovers
Bathrooms are notoriously tricky — low natural light, high humidity, and often overlooked entirely when it comes to planting. Rather than fighting those conditions, I chose low-light-tolerant varieties that actually prefer them, styled in smaller, moisture-friendly pots suited to bathroom humidity, turning an often-neglected space into one that feels considered and calm.
Plants: Mother in Law Tongue, philodendron
Pots: Mix
The Kitchen — Jungle Island & Cascading Shelves
The huge island bench became the centrepiece for a jungle-style display — bold, layered planting styled at varying heights to make a statement without getting in the way of daily life in a busy family kitchen. Surrounding shelving was planted with cascading ivy in lightweight pots, letting greenery spill down naturally through the space rather than sitting stiffly in pots that fight the room's clean lines.
The Deck & Pool Area — Full Sun, Tough & Tropical
Outdoor entertaining areas need plants that can handle direct sun, heat, and the occasional splash of pool water — so pot material mattered just as much as plant choice here. I selected sun-tolerant, resilient varieties in durable, weather-proof pots that bring a tropical resort feel to the deck and poolside without demanding fussy care or fading in the harsh Sunshine Coast sun.
Hallway, Entrance & Console — First Impressions
The entrance sets the tone for the whole home, but hallways are often narrow with limited, indirect light — so plant and pot size were kept in proportion to the space. A curated console and hallway planting scheme gives guests (and the family) a lush welcome the moment they walk in, sized and styled to suit the space without crowding a high-traffic area.
The Ongoing Care Plan
When time is at a premium, iki and moss brings the expertise and does the work — so the only thing left for you is to enjoy it!
Want This for Your Home?
If you love the idea of a home filled with the right plants and pots in the right places — matched to your light, your space, and your style — but don't have the time or know-how to make it happen, this is exactly what I do. From initial planting through to ongoing weekly care, I handle the whole thing so you can just enjoy it.
"For a busy family, the goal was never just 'more plants', it was a home that feels considered in every room, without adding one more thing to their to-do list. That's what the right styling and ongoing care makes possible." — Jane
